Seeing Spots

I'll be the first to admit that I have a rather unhealthy obsession with spotted hindquarters.

No matter the setting, my camera lens seems to have a habit of being pulled magnetically to those spots. (It's a real problem!) Granted, I have a deep seated appreciation (*cough obsession cough*) for the Appaloosa breed, and therein, the Appaloosa-patterned horse. But it's no wonder that the medieval description for Lp patterning was that of a "leopard" horse—spotted equines look downright exotic. And the variety!

Whether it's big spots,

 

little spots,

moldy spots,

or anything in between.

Spotted horses are, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful horses. From Appaloosas to Knabstruppers, or the Noriker horse or the Altai, or the POA or the British Spotted Pony, even new-old-comers like the Sugarbush Draft or the Stonewall Sporthorse, spots are appreciated the world over on all manner of equine forms and types.

Because I have a noted fondness for spotted rumps, I have a ridiculously, insanely, monstrously large collection of general "Appaloosa" patterning reference pictures, which expands almost daily...as fast as I can upload and source pictures. 

Spend some time there, and pretty soon you'll be seeing spots too!

I'm not new to the world of horses, but I am a bit of a green bean in the world of model horse tackmaking and props.
